Day 2733: Make love and more food.

I have saved her number in my phone as ‘Premila - girl in red’ and she calls me ‘Wolverine - superdad’. I can’t remember how, when and where I first met her but every time I meet her I feel like I have always known her. She has this mad ideas about food, entrepreneurship, academia and dramas in her life.

I haven’t known anyone who has so much drama going on in her life and yet finds time to do what she loves the most - Art and Food!

This woman just brews ideas of food and takes break from her PhD to do food. Amazing!

I don’t know how it came about but we started doing Works shops for various Nepalese food - MoMo workshop, Newah Bhwoye Workshop and Khapse Workshop. And we call our team Yak Bites!

...and she brings me box of homemade experimental food in this little box that I’m going to keep for ever!

Day 2711: Bhakta Band

Shoe Bit - Vocals

Ash - Lead Guitar

Dilip - Guitar

Stiphan - Drums

Ojesh - Bass Guitar

Things happen when people meet and - ‘amazing’ things happen when ‘amazing’ people meet at the right time with right attitude. Bhakta Band happened when these five people with different shapes, sizes and stories met - through Merging NepSocs and were binded by music.

A very short conversation between Ashutosh (Ash) Thapa (lead guitarist), Dilip Thapa (rhythm guitarist) and Subit Gurung (lead singer) occurred during a Nepalese Society event in East-Midlands. This particular discussion took place at Loughborough University’s men’s wash room at 1am. They gathered that their musical taste and skills matched. Subit Gurung, a childhood friend of Dilip has always been interested in singing. Subit was Dilip’s personal singer when Dilip was learning to play guitar in his early years. So, the three youngsters started to play songs together. When Merging NepSocs came calling to request them to play, they realised they needed a drummer and then came to the scene our Kaji - Stiphan Gurung (drummer). As luck and coincidence would have it, they meet Ojesh Singh, a bassist after one of the Merging NepSocs’ events and then the 5-piece band was complete.

The band has recently recorded their first single ‘Hey Maya’ at Stanwell Studio with Madan Damai.

‘Hey Maya’ is slated to be released on 14 February 2020. Stay tuned!

Day 2704: Guthi Seminar 2020

The first European conference on Newah culture and heritage.

PASA PUCHAH GUTHI, UK, in last 20 years, has organised various events and performed numerous activities for the promotion and preservation of Newah culture and heritage - Not just for Newah culture and heritage but for anything that required social attention.

In this process we haven’t always got everything right but we are pleased that we have got most of the things right and we shall never give up. This seminar adds another achievement to its glorious history.
