Day 3600: Presentation in New York, USA
I will be flying the flag of PASA PUCHAH GUTHI, UK in the US and presenting on learnings from our glorious 22 years history at the 4th World Newah Convention.
TITLE:
Promoting Newah Heritage in the UK: community building and challenges
ABSTRACT:
While cultural heritage refers to a purportedly shared past, it bears directly upon the present experiences, time and place, and the expectations of the future. There has long been interest in collecting cultural heritage in the form of artefacts displayed on museum exhibits in an effort to preserve it. The significance of living or intangible heritage, such as language usage, festival celebration, and ritual performance, has come to light in recent times. Supporting cultural heritage in all of its forms is a project of some urgency today. Pasa Puchah Guthi, UK, has been one of the few Newah community organisations to identify such needs and to promote and protect the Newah heritage in the UK.
This presentation endeavours to 1) explore Pasa Puchah Guthi UK's efforts in defining and governing interactions with the community to promote and protect cultural heritage, 2) highlight the range of consequences and effects of such interactions, and 3) identify the challenges for Newah people of the UK living in the present, place and time, with the past (and the future).

Day 3598: Newah Bhwoye- SOLD OUT!!!
The first Newah Bhwoye after the Covid Pandemic is being held on Saturday, 6 August 2022. Organised by Pasa Puchah Guthi UK, South East London Chapter, this is the first event by PASA PUCHAH GUTHI, UK to have the online tickets system. And what a great achievement that all the tickets have been sold out 3 days prior to the record.
This is a great achievement for Pasa Puchah guthi. Many congratulations to the President Shrestha Madhav and the coordinator Ishwor Maharjan. A great thank you and many kudos to Nir Mjn for hardwork of setting up this online ticketing system, and everyone at South-East branch for such great promotion of Newah food and Newah culture in the U.K.
